The new school year is well underway! Students are finding their way around all of our new spaces and learning their new schedules. I am also! There are so many new spaces at Kennedy, it is hard to believe it is the same building. I am also in a new position this year and in a new office. I will be working with the reading room team to help our young readers grow and learn as the reading interventionist.
On meet and greet day I met so many of my kiddos from previous years in the reading room. It is always wonderful to see the kindergarten friends navigating first grade. They are so proud of themselves! Many of my former students have returned as parents as well. This fact seems hard to believe.
I asked each of my previous kubbies what great books they had read this summer. I was hoping they would have trouble choosing just one. Reading is an exercise just like any other thing we do to be healthy and strong, it must be practiced. Practice makes permanent. Positive habits begun now will only help with future success. Kennedy's Little Library is full of great books. Students have a library in our school with wonderful reads as do our local libraries.
I can't wait to meet everyone at Curriculum Night on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 6:30 PM. and hear about all those great books you have discovered.
